We left El Paso Monday morning and drove 226 miles on the boring I-10 to Fort Stockton. We had hoped to play golf when we got there, but as most golf courses are, they were closed on Monday. We did a little shopping and got my car inspected. Texas requires that all vehicles get a safety inspection each year--my car had not been in Texas for nearly 3 years, so was long over due!
Visiting Fort Stockton always brings back fond memories. We lived there for 7 years, from 1963 to 1970. My son Jim was born there. I drove past the house that we lived in--it was in bad shape!
We stayed at the Fort Stockton RV Park http://tinyurl.com/ctcujk . It was nothing fancy, but very adequate for the evening. The best part was the little resturant. Served great food at very reasonable prices. It is a definate stopping spot.
