We drove to Hot Springs with plans to stay at the Cloud Nine RV Park http://www.cloudninerv.com/ several miles outside of Hot Springs. As with many places, they have a nice web site but the park is nothing like represented. Fortunately, when I called ahead, they had not asked for a credit card! We drove through and left, heading back to town.
The only other real option was the KOA http://www.koa.com/where/AR/04106/. We avoid KOA parks whenever possible, but there was no choice this time. It was the norm for KOA, dirt/gravel roads & pads and short narrow sites.
We did a little sightseeing while there. The area is beautiful so we drove around one of the scenic loops and drove through the Lake Ouachita State Park. The lake is beautiful, as is the entire area. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/lakeouachita/
Back in town, we had fun riding the Duck http://www.rideaduck.com/ducks/index.php
The Duck is "The DUKW, or "Duck" as we call it, is amphibious landing craft developed by the U.S. Army during World War II to deliver cargo from ships at sea directly to shore."
You board the Duck in town, and take a tour around town, the head to one of the many lakes in the area. The Duck is driven into the water, and takes a tour around the lake, then is driven up a boat ramp on the other side. Very interesting!!
We left the KOA on Saturday morning--and we were glad to leave. It was not the type of RV Park that we enjoy.
