June 17 Eureka Springs, AR

.

Because of predicted bad weather, we stayed an extra day at the Outdoor Resorts. On Tuesday, we drove about 30 miles to Eureka Springs. We stayed at the Wanderlust RV Park http://www.wanderlustrvpark.com/ It was a nice place, and made a great overnight stopping spot.

The main reason for visiting Eureka Springs was to see the Great Passion Play.

The entrance to the area is beautiful.

The Great Passion Play is in its 40th year of production and has been seen by over 7 million people. It is an excellent enactment of the last days of Christ on earth. I thought it was very well done. The setting was really great.

The setting for the preformance was impressive with the natural backdrop. I was able to get this picture in the afternoon, but later, cameras were not permitted.

The outdoor ampitheater has a seating capacity of over 4000 people.

Fortunately, the weather was beautiful because the show goes on even if it rains. Of course, it would be canceled in case of severe weather.

The Christ of the Ozarks statue was another reason for visiting the area.

The statue is 7 stories tall. It is really interesting and worth the time to visit.

There are many different museums and things to see in the area, including a Tour of the Holy Land. There is a list and descriptions on the website above. Unfortunately, since we lost a day due to the weather, we did not get to see any of the other things.

There is nothing that I can say here that will adequately describe the Spirutal significance of this area.

If you ever have the opportunity , I highly recommend you taking the time to visit Eureka Springs and see the town and the Passion Play complex.
